Proposal by Governor Malloy would help more than 40,000 homeowners go solar

Hartford, CT – The Connecticut State Senate today approved a proposal by Governor Malloy expanding Connecticut’s residential solar program. H.B. 6838 would expand Connecticut’s residential solar goals, resulting in 300 megawatts of solar installations on over 40,000 homes.
Environment Connecticut State Director Chris Phelps issued the following statement in response to passage of H.B. 6838:
“Connecticut is doubling-down on its very successful residential solar programs. This bill will help thousands of Connecticut families reduce their electricity bills and cut pollution by going solar. We applaud approval of this measure that continues progress building more homegrown, clean, renewable solar power.”
“Since 2010, Connecticut has seen nearly 50 percent annual growth of installed solar power. Keeping that momentum going forward could result in as much as 20% of Connecticut’s electricity coming from pollution-free solar power within a decade. This bill is a big step towards achieving that goal.”
