546 Leaders Call for Stronger Northeast Climate Pact

Hartford, CT – 546 organizations, businesses, health professionals, lawmakers and community leaders from the Northeast, called on Governor Malloy and other Northeast and Mid-Atlantic governors to strengthen the nation’s best regional climate and clean air program, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).

Pollution from our nation’s cars, buses, trucks and trains is taking America dangerously off track to meeting climate goals, according to a new report written by Frontier Group and released by Environment Connecticut Research & Policy Center. 50 STEPS TOWARD CARBON-FREE TRANSPORTATION: Rethinking U.S. Transportation Policy to Fight Global Warming concludes that 21st century transportation policy must quickly shift to new priorities, guided by a central goal of curbing climate-altering carbon pollution.

Report Shows Big Climate and Economic Benefits from Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative

Hartford, CT — Cutting carbon pollution from power plants can reduce the risk of global warming and provide economic benefit to local communities at the same time, according to a report released today by Environment Connecticut Research & Policy Center. The group urged Connecticut and other states to strengthen the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) to cut pollution 5% annually and increase its economic benefits.
